FileRide is a pioneering social desktop connecting like-minded people through the files and links they have in common. For example, if someone adds a PDF document or MP3 file to her FileRide that you added to your FileRide, that document will instantly serve as a communication channel between the two of you without your having known each other previously. As you add more links, YouTube videos and files from your computer to FileRide, your social network is expanded with new people sharing your interests.
FileRide lets you organize your files, links, videos, friends and groups in an intuitive and social way by tagging and rating them both locally and globally. The service enables you to write comments or chat about any link or file on your computer, making those comments – but not the contents of your collection or the documents in it – visible to anyone else in the world having the same file or link. It’s easy to make new connections and discover new media and links related to your interests.

We make all of this possible without exposing any of your document contents or private information outside of your own computer. FileRide uses a patent-pending method of creating, storing and matching digital fingerprints that preserves your privacy. The photos, music, documents, videos and links that you add to FileRide remain private and exclusive to you. Even your real name is kept hidden from people you don’t know. Nothing is shared without you explicitly posting it and no one can contact you directly without your permission.
We have designed FileRide to be as private and secure as possible while leaving lots of room for social interaction. Our goal is to help like-minded people connect and promote democracy through universal access to content-related communities.
