FAQ

  • What is FileRide?

First off, FileRide is not file sharing!

FileRide is a hyper-social desktop application, allowing you to make new friends through very specific interests such as files on your computer, YouTube videos or web links. All you need to do is drag folders, documents and links from your computer or web browser into FileRide and prepare to meet new friends sharing your interests.

For example, if you love the song “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” by Radiohead, just drag that MP3 or OGG song into FileRide and suddenly you will find yourself chatting with others having the same song - regardless of how they named the file on their computers, and what format it is. FileRide will also give you lots of interesting information about your interests as well as relevant links to online videos and media.

  • How does FileRide work?

FileRide connects you to other like minded people through a patent-pending method of creating, storing and matching digital fingerprints created from the files and concepts added to FileRide.

  • So what differentiates FileRide from other social networks and community software tools?

FileRide provides a service which is completely unique, in allowing people to meet via their own documents and interests - without having to search or type in a lot of personal information. Suggestions are made automatically and non-intrusively based upon the files and information you put into it.

  • How much does it cost?

FileRide is completely free for registered users, and registration costs nothing. Just dive in and enjoy the ride!

  • Will FileRide expose my document names or contents?

No! FileRide is completely private and secure so that none of your document contents are exposed anywhere outside of your own computer. Nobody can see what files you add to FileRide unless you decide to write comments or chat about them.

  • What are FileRide’s system requirements?

FileRide has been tested to work on

    > Contemporary PCs running Windows XP/Vista.
    > Contemporary Mac computers running OS X Leopard.

If you experience problems during the installation process or general use of FileRide, please let us know.

  • Is FileRide available for Mac?

Yes! FileRide is currently available on both Windows Xp/Vista and Mac OS X Leopard.

  • Is FileRide available for Linus?

Not at the moment. A Linux version may be released as soon as we get enough traction on the currently supported platforms.
